Angel is an Arizona native who was born and raised here on 16th Street and Thomas. Growing up, Angel’s cousins were always cutting hair for their friends and family members, and so, when he started doing it for himself and his homies in high school, he carried with him a natural talent that had been developing from years of watching others do it. Looking up to his relatives, Angel always viewed barbers through a lense of admiration and respect, coupling this with a determination for excellence Angel has learned his trade quickly and is now regarded as an adaptable and progressive stylist at the top of his class. His favorite travel destination is Rocky Point, Mexico which he visits every year with his girlfriend for Easter. “Me and my girl, we love the Pina Coladas,” he told me behind a smile. Growing up, Angel’s favorite show was ‘Tom and Jerry’ and his most recent favorite movie was Gaurdians of the Galaxy 2 as he is a self-proclaimed Gruut fanatic. In the future, Angel plans to open up his own Blurred Lines franchise, saying “I think this is a business model I’d like to have a real stake in at some point so right now it’s all about saving and perfecting my craft.”
Since Diego was a young child, art has been his whole life. After moving to America at the age of 5 and obtaining his citizenship, much of Diego’s childhood was spent buried in sketchbooks drawing, painting, and designing the creations of his mind. Art being his passion, he was constantly searching for a way to better the world through his art work. Diego began cutting hair in his teens in a strip mall in Nogales Arizona. One day a gentleman walked into his shop and asked to get a haircut but as he was homeless, did not have the money to pay for it. After every other barber rejected the man, Diego told him he would clean him up. Two weeks after cutting the man’s hair and trimming his beard the man returned to Diego’s shop and told him that since he got his hair cut, he was able to secure a job at a nearby Burger King, got an apartment and was now ready to pay him back for the cut and shave that had literally changed his life. It was in that moment, overcome with emotion, Diego thought to himself, “this is it. This is how I will help the world.” Since then, Diego has happily made a career for himself making people handsome and is determined to one day save up enough to open his own Blurred Lines franchise. “What makes Blurred Lines different from other barbers’ shops is this branding of Urban Luxury that we are fostering. It's kind of like Tom Ford met Supreme and said: ‘Let’s cut some hairs.’ It’s free spirited and most importantly it’s fun. And looking good, should be just that: fun.”
